DON’T IGNORE THE THREAT OF TERRORISM | SKYSAVER RESCUE BACKPACKS

SkySaver is not ONLY for escaping fires, as many believe. It can be used in any kind of high-rise emergency, including natural disasters such as earthquakes, active shooter situations, and terrorism. It’s about time we discuss the real threat global terror is posing in the world today. There’s no question that global terror is on the rise. You don’t want to be stuck in a situation where you hear gunshots and have no way out (except straight into the hands of the terrorists). According to FDNY Chief Joseph Pfeifer, NYPD Chief of Intelligence and Counterterrorism John Miller, and the Office of Emergency Management’s Deputy Commissioner for training Jacob Cooper, the most vulnerable parts of New York City when it comes to terrorism are the subways and high-rise buildings. In September 2009, a 19-year-old was arrested on charges that he intended to blow-up a Dallas skyscraper.

From Brussels to Orlando and Nice to Tel Aviv, there were more than 100 terror attacks around the globe in 2016. This is not some small issue. You may see that chart going around social media, showing the likelihood of being the victim of a terror attack (that it’s very small), basically “proving” that this problem is being blown out of proportion. That chart does not take into account a major factor. Terrorists are constantly an active threat. Just because the statistics do not show a “staggering” number of terror-related deaths, does not mean that terrorism is not an issue that needs to be dealt with. You are supposed to protect yourself against threats, not wait until they become a much bigger problem. Just because alcohol, obesity, and suicides kill more people each year than terrorism does not mean that we should turn a blind eye. Doing so would be dangerous. All you need to do is look at countries like Nigeria, Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan, and Pakistan. There has been a dangerous rise in terrorism in those countries over the last 5+ years. Terror groups have not been able to get a foothold in the West at this point, and let’s hope it stays that way.

Keeping you and your family safe is something that should always be high on your priority list. Having a backup plan in place in case there is a fire, terror attack, or other kind of high rise emergency is definitely something you should consider. A fire extinguisher will help you deal with fire (though not one that is out of control) but has no purpose during a terrorist attack or active shooter situation. Most people are not trained in the use of firearms and don’t even have a gun license. Even if they have a license and are trained, those people would still want their families to get out safe while they try to handle the situation. A SkySaver can save you from any kind of high rise emergency. At the very least, it will give you the peace of mind of emergency preparedness. What do you think of the rise in global terrorism today?
