8 MORE ESSENTIAL APPS FOR PREPPERS | SKYSAVER RESCUE BACKPACKS

You can never have too many prepper apps on your phone because you can never be too prepared. If you are keen on always being ready to encounter any kind of emergency situation, you may be considered a prepper. Prepper apps can be incredibly useful (see our first list) in difficult moments. They are full of practical information, giving you the tools you need to always be prepared. Ten apps just wasn’t enough, so we decided to give you a list of eight more apps that are essential for any prepper (and pretty important to have, even if you’re not). Here are eight more essential apps for preppers (in no particular order).

  • ICE Standard – As stated in one of our blog posts, having an ICE list on your phone is definitely something everyone should consider. ICE meaning In Case of Emergency. Over 16 million people are taken to the emergency room each year in the United States, and, if you are non-responsive, with the medic only having access to your phone, it’s best to have any medical and emergency contact information readily available. That’s where this app comes in. It’s a good idea as well, to make sure there is a shortcut to the app on the lockscreen of your phone, so as to allow first responders easy access. Available for free on both Android and IOS.

  • Pet First Aid – Anyone with a longtime pet knows how much they feel like a member of the family. That’s why it’s essential to know what to do in a situation where they might need immediate medical attention. Pet First Aid – Red Cross does just that. It has step-by-step instructions for everyday emergencies, easy access to locate the nearest emergency vet hospital, how-to videos, and much more. Make sure your pet is taken care of and download this app! Available for free on both Android and IOS.

  • Patronus – Make sure your loved ones know where you are with this useful app. If you know you will be going alone to a potentially dangerous location, or even just feel uncomfortable about where you’ll be headed and want people to know of your whereabouts, this app is definitely a keeper. Available for free on both Android and IOS.

  • Wild Edibles App – Are you curious as to which plants are edible and which are not? This app can help you identify edible plants, poison lookalikes, and gives you information on plants with medicinal properties as well. Wild Edibles contains an enormous amount of knowledge regarding foraging, preparation methods, and recipes for both novices and experts. Available for free (lite version) and $4.99 on both Android and IOS.

  • Knots 3D – You can learn how to tie 118 different knots with this incredible app. You are able to watch the knot tie itself so you can emulate it and you can even adjust the speed of the knot tying or pause it so you can figure out where you’ve gone wrong. There is even the option to rotate it and view the knot from any angle. This app has been included in Scouting Magazine’s ‘Ultimate List of Scouting Apps’ (April 2014). Available for $1.99 on both Android and IOS.

  • MyNature Animal Tracks – You’ve identified edible plants, what about wild animal tracks? This app can help you identify the tracks of over 46 different animals in North America based on size and shape. You can even listen to the sound each animal makes with the app. Available for $4.99 on Android and $1.99 on IOS.

  • SAS Survival Guide – This all-encompassing app is based on the best-selling book of the same name. It provides a comprehensive guide to wilderness survival with everything you might need including basiic information, a guide to knife skills, a survival checklist, and more. Download the lite version for free or the paid for one which has much more content for $5.99. Available for both Android and IOS.

  • Smart Compass – This compass app will help you gather your bearings. It uses the built-in magnetic sensors of your device to function. If the magnetic sensors of your device are not calibrated properly, the app will not work as intended. Available for Android.

Each and every one of these apps are extremely handy in the right situation. It’s better to have them and not need them then to need them and not have them. Which of these apps do you already have installed on your phone/tablet? Are there any other prepper apps you would recommend? Sound off in the comments section down below and let us know.
